Radiofrequency ablation
Is a minimally invasive medical procedure commonly employed to address underlying venous reflux, often associated with conditions like chronic venous insufficiency.Â
Procedure
Preparation: The patient is typically advised to wear loose-fitting clothing.

Local Anesthesia: The treatment area is numbed with a local anesthetic to ensure the patient's comfort during the procedure.

Catheter Insertion: A thin catheter is inserted into the affected vein through a small incision, usually near the knee or ankle.
​
Radiofrequency Energy Delivery: The catheter, equipped with a radiofrequency electrode, is advanced through the vein. The electrode generates heat, and controlled radiofrequency energy is applied to the vein wall.
​
Vein Closure: The heat from the radiofrequency energy causes the collagen in the vein wall to contract and the vein to close. This effectively redirects blood flow to healthier veins.

Closure Confirmation: Closure of the treated vein is confirmed through ultrasound imaging to ensure the success of the procedure.
